Invest Europe has published its position paper for the trilogue negotiations on SFDR 2.0, in which the organization sets out its overarching goals for the forthcoming reform. The aim is to ensure that the new regulatory framework strengthens transparency and supports informed investment decisions, while giving private capital a solid foundation to contribute effectively to the EU’s sustainability and transition agenda.
According to Invest Europe, the reform should be designed in a way that works in practice for sectors such as private equity, venture capital and infrastructure. Among other things, the organization highlights the need for product categories that recognize active ownership and long-term engagement as key drivers of real sustainability outcomes. At the same time, Invest Europe calls for the framework to preserve a sufficiently broad range of eligible investment strategies and to take into account the specific practical conditions that apply to closed-ended funds.
In addition, Invest Europe highlights a number of further priorities including workable arrangements for funds reserved for professional investors, proportionate threshold and compliance requirements, a broad and market-relevant approach to impact investing, and sustainability reporting that is relevant and proportionate to its purpose.
