The European Commission has launched a targeted consultation to gather feedback on obstacles to capital markets integration across the EU. The consultation focuses on identifying and removing barriers to enhance the integration and modernization of EU capital markets. The initiative is a key component of the rollout of the Savings and Investments Union (SIU) strategy, adopted by the European Commission on 19 March 2025. The consultation is available here.
The purpose of the consultation is to seek stakeholders’ feedback on several issues and potential measures in two main areas: i) general barriers to the integration and modernization of trading and post-trading infrastructures, the cross-border distribution of funds, and the efficient cross-border operations of asset managers, and ii) barriers specifically related to supervisory frameworks.
Next steps: Relevant stakeholders are invited to submit their responses by 10 June 2025, where the consultation ends.
